26th anniversary of the Accession to the Throne of His Majesty, King Mohammed VI Celebrated in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD : Staff Reporter + Pictures Raja Ghulam Farid – Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Mr. Rana Tanveer Hussain, represented the Islamic Republic of Pakistan at a reception hosted by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Islamabad to celebrate the 26th anniversary of the Accession to the Throne of His Majesty, King Mohammed VI.

Minister Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Honorary Consuls of Karach and Lahore, ambassadors , defense attaches of many countries, parliamentarians, civil military officials, civil society, business community and media persons were present at this occasion in large number.

The Throne Day celebration is an annual opportunity to renew the bonds of mutual allegiance between the people of Morocco and their Sovereign and to reflect collectively on where the country stands in terms of what has been achieved and how to overcome the challenges that lies ahead concerning economic and social progress.

Minister Rana Tanvir , on behalf of gov and people of Pakistan, extended warm greetings and heartfelt felicitations to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Government of Morocco, and the Moroccan people on behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan.

He termed the National Day a symbol of Morocco’s rich heritage, national pride, resilience, and steady journey towards progress and peace. He commended Morocco’s remarkable strides in sustainable development, regional cooperation, and governance.

The Minister underlined the historical, cultural, and religious bonds between Pakistan and Morocco. He noted that diplomatic ties between the two brotherly countries, established in 1958, have evolved into a strong partnership based on mutual respect, solidarity, and shared values.

He appreciated Morocco’s consistent support to Pakistan on issues of importance at international forums and reiterated Pakistan’s firm support for Morocco’s sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity.

The Minister stressed the need to expand bilateral cooperation in key sectors such as textiles, agriculture, leather, pharmaceuticals, and information technology. He highlighted that bilateral trade remains far below its potential and needs to be explored further.

Referring to Morocco’s global leadership in phosphate production and fertilizer manufacturing, the Minister proposed deeper collaboration in agriculture, food security, and agri-tech innovation to boost Pakistan’s agricultural resilience and productivity.

He also emphasized the importance of enhancing academic and cultural exchanges, suggesting student exchange programs and joint research between institutions of higher learning.

He praised Morocco’s efforts in promoting interfaith harmony and cultural dialogue, calling it aligned with Pakistan’s vision of peace and coexistence. He further acknowledged Morocco’s achievements in renewable energy and stressed the value of cooperation on climate change adaptation and green technologies.

The Minister expressed his appreciation for the role of the Embassy of Morocco in Islamabad, particularly under the leadership of Ambassador H.E. Mohammed Karmoune, in promoting bilateral relations. He stated that Morocco and Pakistan share a brotherly relationship with vast untapped potential, and both nations must work together to expand cooperation for mutual benefit.

Concluding his remarks, the Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening the friendly ties with Morocco and expressed his optimism that both countries would continue to work closely for regional and global peace and prosperity.

Ambassador Mohammed Karmoun , in his welcome address, shed light on  economic and social progress aince the accession of His Majesty the King Mohammed VI to the Throne 26 years ago.

Ambassador said, Morocco have been strengthened and a more competitive, diversified and open economy has been maintained despite the worsening international crises. The industrial exports have more than doubled since 2014, especially those related to the automotive, aviation, renewable energy, food industries and tourism. These sectors are today key levers that underpin Morocco’s emerging economy in terms of both investment and job creation.

As an emerging country, Morocco is today characterized by the vast, diversified array of its partners. Its economy is linked to nearly three billion consumers worldwide, thanks to the free trade agreements the country has signed.

Today Morocco is engaged in numerous large-scae projects related to water management and desalination, food security, infrastructure as well as energy sovereignty with the objective to improve the living conditions ofall citizens in all areas and regions.

Ambassador invited Pakistani investors and business to invest in these development projects or set ups their own businesses and benefit from the investment facilities Morocco is offering to business communities and the access to foreign markets with which the country has signed free trade agreements such as the EU, Turkey, USA, the UAE, Egypt and others.

He said, “My country attaches great importance to its relations with Pakistan. Our bilateral Relations have traditionally been strong and cordial. They are characterized by shared interests and common history. On our part, we value this relationship and see opportunities for enhanced cooperation in various fields such as trade, joint investments, defense, tourism and international forums to address together global challenges.”

H.E Karmoun said, we have to further strengthen our ties through increased high-level visits and collaboration on various fronts in order to create lasting partnerships that can bring the peoples of our two brotherly nations closer and closer.

“Our two countries are set to conduct a series of high-level meetings to discuss their cooperation in several fields and explore avenues to increase imports and exports and identify industries where both Moroccan and Pakistani business communities can collaborate more closely, the ambassador concluded.
