ISLAMABAD : Monitoring Desk – The Republic of Tajikistan and China together entered into a new phase of bilateral cooperation during the official visit of President Emomali Rahmon to China and meeting with President Xi Jinping. Following high-level meetings and talks between Tajikistan and China, 31 new cooperation documents were signed.
The two Heads of State, Honorable Emomali Rahmon and Honorable Xi Jinping, signed the Joint Statement of the Republic of Tajikistan and the People’s Republic of China on Deepening Comprehensive Cooperation and Strategic Partnership in the New Era and the Treaty on Eternal Friendship, Good-Neighborliness, and Cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the People’s Republic of China.
As noted, the main motto of this document is: “Friends forever, enemies never.”
The following were also signed:
– Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China for 2026-2027;
– Memorandum of Cooperation between the Communist Party of China and the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan for 2026-2028;
– Exchange letters between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the People’s Republic of China on a technical assistance project;
– Memorandum of Understanding between the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies and the National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China on the establishment of a Tajikistan-China Center for Cooperation in Artificial Intelligence;

From May 11 to 14, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honourable Emomali Rahmon, was on a state visit to the People’s Republic of China.
During this visit, in the cities of Beijing and Chongqing, the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, met with the top leadership of the neighboring country, a group of high-ranking Chinese representatives, and discussed the current state and prospects for cooperation between Tajikistan and China.
As a result of high-level negotiations and meetings of business circles of Tajikistan and China, more than 80 new cooperation documents were signed for a total amount of more than 8 billion US dollars.
Important events of the state visit – signing of important documents – the Treaty on Eternal Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the People’s Republic of China, the Joint Statement of the Republic of Tajikistan and the People’s Republic of China on Deepening Comprehensive Cooperation and Strategic Partnership, and the awarding of the title of Honorary Professor to the Head of State, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon by the Academic Council of Peking University.
On May 14, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon returned to his homeland after completing his visit to Chongqing, the People’s Republic of China.
At Chongqing International Airport, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon was cordially seen off by high-ranking Chinese representatives.
