Ambassador of Germany to Pakistan, H.E Alfred Grannas has said, Pakistan has been a fascinating journey for me. Every city has its own vibrant cultural mosaic. Germany and Pakistan share a common thread of industriousness and resilience among their people. Initiatives in vocational training, private sector development, and renewable energy hold immense promise for the country’s sustainable development.
The Ambassador shared this in a short interview to “Pakistan in the World”. Here is the question answer format of the interview;
Q- How are you feeling in Pakistan? How is your work experience here?
A- Since my arrival in September 2022, Pakistan has been a fascinating journey for me. I’ve had the privilege to delve into the heart of cities like Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, and Quetta, each offering its own vibrant cultural mosaic. The warmth and hospitality of the Pakistani people have left a lasting impression on me.
Q- You are easy to approach Ambassador, you are seen taking interest in Pakistani culture and cuisine. Would you like to share your thoughts about it?
A- Pakistan is a treasure trove of diverse destinations, each with its own allure. Whether it’s the cultural richness of Lahore or the tantalizing flavours of Baluchistan, every corner of this country beckons exploration and discovery. and by the way – I have so come to love chapli kabab!
Q- Any commonalities between Germany and Pakistan you have observed in your visits to different cities and meeting with people of different cultures?
A- Despite their differences, both Germany and Pakistan share a common thread of industriousness and resilience among their people. Moreover, the appreciation for food as a unifying force is evident in both cultures, with shared meals and culinary traditions serving as important social bonds.
Q- There are about 140 thousand Pakistanis in Germany. They are doing different jobs there. How do you see their role in German society?
A- Pakistani immigrants, like all residents of Germany, contribute significantly to the country’s prosperity and cultural diversity. Whether it’s through skilled professions or service-oriented roles, they play an integral part in various industries and sectors of the German economy.
