Prosecutor General Uzbekistan – “No Complaint about Election Process – International Observers Can Mention if Found Any”

Prosecutor General Uzbekistan Mr Nigmatilla Yuldashev briefed the journalists and experts of observers status , who came from different countries, about the measures taken to address the complaints regarding election process on the Day of the Presidential Election in the country. Mr. Yuldashev visited Tashkent International Press Center to apprise the observers that how the Prosecutor General office is monitoring the election process and what is the mechanism of taking action on any complaint.

“Our head office along with district and regional offices are working 24/7 since the preparations for the Presidential Election started. Complaints can be lodged by anyone any where any time. Prosecutor General office receives the complaint digitally soon after it is lodged by polling agent, at Police Stations or by the observers.” He stated.

Editor “Pakistan in the World” current affairs, international relations magazine and Daily Azkaar Urdu newspaper from Islamabad Pakistan had short discussion with Mr. Yuldashev at 3.45 PM on Election Day 24 Oct 2021. He asked about any complaint so far? The Prosecutor General replied that we have not received any complaint so far.

The high law enforcing official said that any complaint will be welcome and referred to inquiry officer. It includes administrative and financial complaints as well. Strict action will be taken if the complaint is found correct and it is shared with international observers.

He said that casting the vote is right as well as responsibility of the people. No one can stop the people from this right. It is punishable crime up to 3 years of imprisonment. International observers are watching the election process.

To a question about no complaint till the afternoon of election day, the Prosecutor General answered that international observers are watching the process. They can mention if any complaint goes unaddressed.

Editor Tazeen Akhtar visited the polling stations when the polling was in full swing. The polling stations of Maktab -110, number 105,Tashkent Moliya Institue – number 517, and the polling station at banking association , number 376 were observed and monitored by us from 11 to 01 AM. He observed at all 3 polling stations that the people of all ages including men and women were enthusiastically pouring in. Youth especially participated in the process by casting their votes in large number.
