Grand Mufti met Secretary Religious Affairs Dr. Syed Atta ur Rehman in Islamabad on 22 March 2024. The Secretary shared that Pakistan is ready to sign MoUs with Bosnia for furtherance of bilateral cooperation.They agreed to work together for promotion of peace, education, religious harmony and elimination of Islamophobia.
The Secretary said Pakistan is ready to sign Memorandums of Understandings with Bosnia for furtherance of religious education, translation of important books, exchange of delegations and bilateral cooperation.He said exchange of delegations at the government and public level will strengthen bilateral ties.
The Grand Mufti expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its peacekeeping services and UN humanitarian missions in Bosnia.He said the two countries have a strong bond and several key position holders in Bosnia have received education from Pakistan.
The Grand Mufti also extended wishes of Ramadan and Independence Day to Pakistani brethren.He was presented English translations of Fatwa “Message Pakistan” and Khutbat-e-Qaumi Sirat-ul-Nabi Conference.
Dr. Husein ef Kavazovic offered Friday prayer at the Faisal Masjid Islamabad where he prayed for the stability of the Islamic world, the progress of Pakistan and Muslims of Gaza that May Allah end their hardships. He also expressed appreciation for the deep bonds of friendship between the peoples of Bosnia and Pakistan.

At the Faisal Masjid, the Grand Mufti was received by Incharge Protocol & Public Relations of International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) Mr. Nasir Farid who extended a warm welcome to him. He also conveyed heartfelt congratulations by the President IIUI , Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi for his receipt of the Sitare e Quaid e Azam Award on March 23rd, conferred by the President of Pakistan. Dr. Husein ef Kavazovic thanked IIUI President for the warm wishes and felicitations.
The Friday prayer at Faisal Masjid was also attended by the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Emin Cohodarevic, officials of International Islamic University , Diplomats of various Muslim countries , prominent religious and political figures, and thousands of faithful from twin cities.
Dr. Husein ef Kavazovic called on Professor Dr. Samina Malik, Rector, International Islamic University, Islamabad at her office in new campus of university.It was agreed in the meeting that an MoU for the mutual cooperation in the field of education and exchange of experiences shall be materialized soon to enhanced these bilateral ties practically.
Issues pertaining to expanding bilateral educational in the fields of Islamic studies, training of Aima, Jurisprudence and law were discussed.
The grand Mufti appreciating the role of IIUI in serving the Muslim world said that there are a number learned scholars, bureaucrats, Aima and researchers in Bosnia who have benefited from the IIUI. He said the university has close objectives akin to the Islamic studies faculties of the Bosnia and Herzegovinian universities.
The IIUI Rector appraised him about the services, role, vision and future goals of university as well as she briefed about the faculties of the universities in addition to presence of international teachers and students. On the occasion, the Grand Mufti presented a rare manuscript of Holy Quran, while the IIUI Rector presented a university souvenir to the esteemed Grand Mufti.
The visit of the honorable guest from Bosnia and his interactions with the officials will certainly go a long way toward turning the mutual understanding and conducive political relations into meaningful concrete cooperation in diversified fields including education and people to people to relations as well. Pakistani people still know limited information about this great country that struggled through sea of blood to the achievement of their freedom. This gap can only be fulfilled by continuous visits , not only the officials alone but civil society representatives, opinion makers and media people should also be given these opportunities.
