President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a Treaty on Allied Relations.It was emphasized that the signing of the Treaty on Allied Relations symbolizes the transition to a qualitatively new stage in relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
Earlier, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan H.E Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Tajikistan on a state visit on 18 April 2024 on the invitation of President H.E Emomali Rahmon.The Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, welcomed the high-ranking guest at the Dushanbe International Airport with a sign of high respect and sincerity, good neighborliness and brotherhood.
“Friendly relations between our countries have risen to an unprecedented level as a result of active dialogue at the highest level. To implement the Treaty on Allied Relations signed today, it is necessary to increase the effectiveness of contacts at all levels – parliaments, governments, foreign affairs agencies, ministries and regions,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted.
Tajikistan is Uzbekistan’s closest, most reliable, and time-tested strategic partner, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said to media representatives.
President Emomali Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the high level of political ties with Uzbekistan, the development and expansion of cooperation in the fields of trade, economics, culture and security.
“I am confident that the Treaty will contribute to the development of our interaction. This document will also become an important factor in strengthening peace and stability in Central Asia,” Rahmon said.
In general, 28 documents were signed during the visit, covering almost all areas of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
These documents included
the Cooperation Agreement in industry;
the Cooperation Agreement in industrial property protection;
the Cooperation Agreement in certification of highly qualified scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel;
the Agreement on scientific cooperation between the Academies of Sciences;
the Protocols on introducing amendments and additions to agreements on checkpoints across the state border, international road, and air traffic;
the Protocol on cooperation in veterinary medicine and food safety; the Protocol on cooperation between agencies for the development of competition and protection of consumer rights;
the Roadmaps for cooperation in culture and tourism, for further development of cooperation in agriculture;
the Cooperation agreements and roadmaps for 2024-2026 between Andijan, Namangan, Syrdarya, Fergana, Khorezm regions and Sughd region, between Kashkadarya region and Khatlon region, as well as other documents.
