Astana: 25 April 2023 – Women are mostly a better half of the population of any country. No nation can grow and prosper if the women are bared from the national affairs and decision making process. Similarly youth of present day are the leaders of tomorrow. They have to assume the responsibilities in next few years. Vibrant societies facilitate special persons (disabled) to utilize their other capacities to not live a life for themselves but become useful for their communities as well.
The Republic of Kazakhstan is working on the inclusive society , parliament and governance in which all segments of the nation find their space conveniently. This is helping them in securing their place in all sectors of the system.
We, the International journalists from around Asia and Europe visited Astana ,the capital city to observe the outcome of the recently held parliamentary elections after the constitutional reforms aimed at transforming the state into more public friendly and participatory by saving their rights and providing them the opportunities.
In this regard, we had a meeting with newly elected deputies of Mazhilis ; Ms Aigul KUSPAN – Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security of Mazhilis of Parliaments of Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. SARYM Aidos – Secretary of the above mentioned Committee, Ms DEMENTIEVA Natalia – Member of the Committee on Legislation and Judicial and Legal Reforms of Mazhilis of PArliament , Mr RAKHIMZHANOV Askhat – Member of the same committee, Mr SERIKOV Tansaule – Member of the Committee for Social and Cultural Development of Mazhilis of Parliament.
The parliamentarians answered the questions of the media. Ms Aigul KUSPAN, mainly spoke on behalf of the parliamentarians as senior while the other members also accompanied her to responding the queries regarding the parliamentary elections, ratio of women and youth in new Parliament etc.
Ms KUSPAN recalled the visit of the speaker of the parliament to Pakistan last year. She said that she was also accompanying the speaker. She appreciated women of Pakistan who are serving the nation in the Pakistani Parliament. She said that Pakistani women in the parliament are actively looking after the rights of the women. They are proving their abilities there.
The conclusion of the meeting was satisfactory in the sense that a large number of women, youth and disabled participated in the election of 19 March 2023. The number of women, youth and disabled in the Parliament is 30 % that is more than any other democratic country in the world.
Women voters used their right of opinion in the largest ever number in the history of Republic of Kazakhstan. Women consisted of 50 % of total vote cast.
The international media representatives found women working on key posts every where they visited. Women are government officers, politicians, parliamentarians, civil society leaders etc. Women are not only the members of the national and regional assemblies but they are serving on higher posts there too. For example , Women are vice speakers and ministers as well in the both houses of the Parliament.
Ms DEMENTIEVA Natalia replied to a question that domestic violence is severe crime in our country. Women rights have been given special importance in the reforms in the constitution. The case can be settled by reconciliation. The culprit is punished for at least 20 days in prison.
Ms KUSPAN recalled the visit of the speaker of the parliament to Pakistan last year. She said that she was also accompanying the speaker. She appreciated women of Pakistan who are serving the nation in the Pakistani Parliament. She said that Pakistani women in the parliament are actively looking after the rights of the women. They are proving their abilities there.
The deputies belonged to different political parties but their exposure was showing that they are all for their country and for their nation. All of them want a Fair Kazakhstan for all. This scribe appreciating the role of women in Kazakhstan society expressed gratitude to the members of the parliament for their welcome to the journalists and answer their questions in details.
